Karen Griffiths’ paintings reflect her magical connection with the world around her. Her canvases are richly textured, often delicately embellished with pencil touches. Blending abstraction and figurative elements, she creates atmospheric mountain landscapes that feel both expressive and serene, making them particularly suited to chalet interiors.
Fascinated by the ever-changing seasons, Karen is especially drawn to winter and its many shades of white. The silence of the snow and the soft white cloak that smooths contours inspire her subtle palette. From pink-grey and fuchsia yellow to deep night blue, her winter scenes depict blurred landscapes shaped by ski tracks, scratchy ski lifts, and ghostly spruce trees, evoking a sense of solitude and introspection.
Alongside her landscapes, Karen’s newer works include intimate portraits of children and older figures, inspired by her travel sketches.
